Let’s discuss a serious problem. Every time after an offline game, there will always be fans who are watching or had watched Warcraft III say, "This game has been launched for more than ten years, why still are these old players winning the championship, is there no newcomer in Warcraft III? "

This is how I am thinking. If an old player has played for more than 10 years, and he still keeps practicing, training with the strength of professional players, continues to play in the tournaments. His strength will rise steadily, at least there will be no obvious regression.

Then, as a newcomer, if you can catch up or even surpass the old players within one year, two years, three years, four years, five years of training. Is this a sorrow of the game or the player?

We all know that RTS games are won in a complicated way. They must be driven by a series of factors such as strategies, operations, micro, etc. It takes many years for a newcomer to absorb so many things to fully understand the game.

In my opinion, if the old players don't retire or they aren't lazy, it is very difficult for the newcomers to surpass the old players in the singles tournament. This is the same as the running competition. When you only start to run after your opponent has ran 1000 meters. The only reason that you can surpass your opponent, is the man stops running, or even coming back.

So, I think that the audience’s standard for the newcomers is actually a bit too high…

I'm not sure if this is the last post I'm writing for the Korean community. First of all, what I am referring is related to the most recent WCG2019 issue. I need a little explanation of the situation.

As you all know, I would be attending the mTw tournament in Berlin in early April, and I should have been leaving with Chamiko. Actually, I think I started suffering into something since the time.

I don't know if it was wrong on MTW's side, or the ticketing company's side. In short, we had a problem with the tickets but I could make a change at the counter and Chaemiko couldn't, so he couldn't leave Korea. By the time, it's 5 o'clock in Germany, so I couldn't contact all the team members. In the face of this situation, I was helpless, because I had a responsibility to participate in the team events. Although I was really sorry for Chamiko, but I need to go to Germany alone. Since then, I started getting stressed.

After the suffering 15 hours flight, I arrived in Berlin, and my accommodation was the same as you had seen on my stream. I talked a lot about the stuffs of mTw team in Berlin. At the same time, I was advanced directly because of the absence of Chaemiko, he was my opponent in Round of 8. In order to the duration of streaming, my team suggested me and Foggy to play an exhibition match. Although I feel it's a bit wrong, I accepted the proposal in order to have some offline experience.

Until 2 am in Berlin, Check and I waited for WCG in mTw studio. After entering the BN WCG channel, we didn't see any related personnel, so I asked a friend like a staff that if I can play on Netease platform, and he told me that it should be OK. So I thought it was allowed to use NetEase platform.

My first opponent was Soin, and he was not willing to play on the Netease platform. I remember that he said that we can only play on BN, it's written in the rules manual. So both of us hadn't started for a while. However, I saw Check and LawLiet was playing at NetEase platform, so I told my opponent that Check and LawLiet have started on NetEase, so we started the game on Netease as well.

After that, I was lucky enough to get to Round of 4 and I met Lawliet here. When the score came to 1:1, LawLiet and FoCuS contacted me suddenly, and they said that the WCG referee told us that we can only play on BN. By the time, the result was 1:1, so we only need a single game for the final result. However, the referee told me that this is a Korean qualifier, and no one can have a special case. In Germany, there was a 500 ping delay when I was playing on BN, so I could do definitely nothing. At last, LawLiet won this series.

To be honest, I was quite angry about this situation, but LawLiet played very good in those days. I guess I might not have a chance for WCG, so I returned to my accommodation. I need to play with Happy in mTw cup in the next day, and I remember that it was 5-6 o'clock when I got my accommodation . After I finally had a sleep for 2 to 3 hours, and then I went back to mTw Studio, I knew that LawLiet was disqualified of his qualifications, and I felt particularly sorry and my shape was being plummeted.

After that, I contacted LawLiet immediately, and I lost 0-3 to Happy in the following game. I lost mind control and my mind exploded that day. Maybe I should better coordinate these two things (WCG and mTw legendary Cup). However, I might lose Happy even I was in my best shape, so it's impossible to win Happy by the time.

Check and I got the third place at the same time, and I feel satisfied about this. I participated in the team event anyway, and I had a good time with my team members in Germany. Keke was in the mTw event, and she told me that she would try to get the opportunities, and I continued to contact LawLiet to tell him that things would be resolved. After returning to Korea, I couldn't sleep because of the time difference, and I suffered a lot. A forum in South Korea has a lot of ridicules about me. At first I didn't care much because I didn't think it was necessary to explain anything about this situation.

After that, I also contacted LawLiet to ask about the progress of the matter. I believe the audiences who were watching my streaming should remember, I called LawLiet to ask about WCG, on the day that I had my glasses. He said to me, "WCG said that let us to rematch, what do you think?" I told him, just follow your thoughts. I remember that LawLiet told me that rematch was a bit unreasonable. At that time, I thought that I lost the game anyway, and I still have chance for next time, so I didn't think about it, and I continued my streaming.

On the second or third day, I received a call from a strange number. The person claimed himself as an WCG official staff, and asked if I wanted to play again. I said, "I don't have a position to decide, and I don't want rematch." But in fact, I had no where to escape, because the official said LawLiet agreed to play again, and they officially announced to the community.

WCG Official Weibo
At 13:00 (Beijing time) of today (24th April), the Warcraft III players Lawliet and Lucifer will play the rematch on the Battle.net, the platform that official designate. By the time, our legend, Sky will cast the game on our streaming channel.
Who will get the last ticket to the Regional Qualifier? See you on our streaming channel.

When the news was announced to the community, there was a lot of overwhelming comments came to me in the forum. I was very angry, but I still tried to control my mind, because I didn't want to make the same mistakes before. I wanted to adjust my mentality and prepare well, but no one was practicing with me at the time, and I was not in the mood to practice.

At that time, Hwaryongri (PS: should be a Korean forum user) gave me a deep impression. I wanted to say "Thank you, I want to ask you, are you really my fan?"

I quit all SNS and I disconnected from the personnel behind-the-scenes, I only kept my parents and brothers in contact. At the same time, I set my phone to "uncallable".

For reference, I still remember that a commentator commented on me like a judge, "although I don't know what he's thinking at the time, but Lucifer's too tired." Yes, this is the case. After the duty to joining the army, I have been receiving treatment and taking psychiatric medicine because of Mania.

If you feel that I am not trustworthy, I can post a medical certificate. The medical certificate I used when I submitted the information to KeSPA was still at home.

Maybe I am getting better, the doctor has reduced the amount of medication for me. My recent shape isn't very good, the reason might be that I had put too much pressure on myself, or it may be the drug adaptation period.

In this situation, I don't know what will happen if I contact other people, so I disconnected with others. Yesterday (24th April), I had a WCG rematch with LawLiet. I tried my best and I sincerely congratulated to Zhao Zhouyan (LawLiet real name) for getting a place. I hope he will have good results at the finals.

At last, I want to find a new way. I sincerely thank the Korean fans who have kept their attention and support during this period. Thanks for your understanding, and I hope to see you again in the future.

In the midnight of April 15th, after a whole night of fighting, the world runner-up and the best European player, Foggy waved a white flag to a Chinese amateur player who was born in 1995.

"What the f**k of this micro, is he AI? He is too good in the control of formation!" "He is so good in knowing and controlling the situation! And he is quite calm! It is impossible to win his guy when he has the advantage!" TH000 and Infi was casting the game together, they were so excited, just like they found gold.

"What an amazing series!" European commentary B2W said it at the same time, and HuG's opponent Foggy sent "good" in a private message to a friend after the game...

After that, his ID, "SiL.HuG" was posted on Weibo, Tieba, CNwar3 and other major Warcraft III communities. No one would have thought that the champion of the first Schuck Cup would be captured by this unknown boy. And the journey of this championship is so legendary!

2-1 FoCuS, 2-1 RW.Life, 2-0 Zhou_Xixi, 3-2 Foggy... one of them won runner-up and third place in 2017, two of them are China's most shining Night Elves in their generations, even the top Orcs do not dare to say that they can take down them easily, on the other hand, you have to know that FoCuS was the second best Orc players in Orc mirror, and Foggy lost only two Bo5 series in NEvsOrc for a year. HuG seems to have been treat as "feeder" at the moment of the grid was announced...

However, this young player, who seems would be "destroyed" completed the journey of championship with the incredible performance, and became the most surprised dark horse of Warcraft III at the moment!

This is the story of HuG, who is called as "HuGoat" by others .

A young man of "Middle generation of Warcraft III"

Warcraft III has gone through a few years since 2010, in the middle of these years, it has left the generation of the contention of a hundred strategies, and came to middle generation. There are not the GMS(Grubby, Moon and Sky) on the stage anymore, Infi, Lyn and other players are waiting for a stage to create their own legend. By the time in Zhejiang Jinhua, HuG, who was studying in high school entered the world of Warcraft III under the leading of his brother.

Although there were not many playmates playing Warcraft III together, the young HuG still showed himself in the amateur circle in just one year, after that, he joined the team under the lead of ANO, the captain of the amateur team SiL, so HuG has been playing as SiL.HuG since he joined this team.

"Why do you play the Orcs?"

"Because Blade Master is very cool! And Wind Walk is also very interesting! So I was very distressed when I saw the nerf of Blade Master... Also, I don't have much confidence on my Far Seer, and I have never been in the age that the Orcs used to play Far Seer." HuG smiled and said.

"I played in offline once in the past, that's the qualifier of WCG in 2013. I was defeated by a former professional player in the first round of Shanghai Division, the ID was WE.panxiang!" When the author asked HuG about the experience of participating in the offline tournament, he said. Perhaps he didn't feel satisfied for such a result, when the time came to 2019, he decided to challenge the current biggest event, WGL!

If you are hard-working you will get return, the incredible performance in Schuck Cup

Unlike the WGL in last year, in this year, WGL Summer has only six quota for Chinese, and now HuG's points are exactly alongside ColorFul and RW.Fly100%.

One of them is the hero of Chinese team NeXT, the formal top 8 players in last season, and the other is the soul totem of the Chinese Orcs. Maybe he felt the pressure of the qualifying, in order to let his dream come true, he signed up for the Schuck Cup although he is working in a company from 0900am to 0500pm, he tried to play the tournament for practicing and communicate with other great players.

"At the time, I didn't think I would win the championship. I just took it as an opportunity to practice. I won because I have a lot of luck." When he was asked about this game, HuG said with modesty, "In the third round against FoCuS, my items were very good, and when I played against Life, he made a really a big mistake in the second round on EI, after that, my items were also very good in the semi-finals and grand finals. For Foggy, I think he might have a delay, and he was careless when he was leading the game with 2-0, in the last 3 round, he didn't change his strategy and let me seize the chance."

HuG paused and continued to add: "I felt very happy when I was playing against Zhouxixi, I reversed the game with my micro on TS, and the game point when I was playing against FoCuS, we had a lot of creep jacking and fighting. Nowadays, I especially like to play Orc mirror, I really enjoy on the battle of micro." Although everyone said that HuG is the best Orc in ORCvsNE, but in HuG own opinion, he doesn't think he is special in this match up. "The four matches up for me are almost the same. If you want me to say it, I still like Orc mirror, the pleasure of micro is very interesting!"

We still have two minor leagues before the last player list of WGL. HuG's mentality is as stable as his game style. "I will do it step by step, I don't want to be too arrogant, I will try to get the quota of the offline first." Although he is young, HuG has revealed a kind of veteran-like calmness, this kind of calmness was like the style of a Korean, the handsome king of Orc, Lyn, "Because Lyn is my idol, I really want my micro in big fight be like him, it will be so good! Unfortunately, I always get destroyed by him on Ladder...hahahaha..."

Professional is a dream; Take it step by step.

In the 2019, the new e-sports system of Warcraft III is being created, becoming a professional player and join a professional team like "Newbee, RW, LF, mTw" seems to have become a dream of many amateurs, of course HuG wants to play as well.

"I wanted to play as professional player, but I already have a stable job, and my parents will not agree to let me do it. In fact, I have received several teams offer, but my current work is very stable, and my parents are also very happy that I could find the current job, and I decide to understand them and work hard!" When the talk came to this topic, HuG can't help to pause for a while, and slowly talked about the "difficulties" of full-time job of Warcraft III.

"But!" The teenager cheered up again. "I can practice in the free time, and improve my level to be higher. When I get better results, I will carefully plan my future career of Warcraft III!"

"So this is not your destination right?"

"Of course, this is just the beginning."

"What goals do you want to achieve in this year?"

"Mhmmm... I have been single for many years, so...Can you introduce a girlfriend to me?"

In the midnight of 15th April, 2019, a new star, SiL.HuG started raising slowly, and he will carry the hope of all the fans of Warcraft III and begin his new journey.

There is not much suspense, even though Linguagua was boasting himself before the game, he said he will win Night Elf and get the championship. However, when he actually played, he still found out that Foggy were an insurmountable mountain for him. The Championship of Xiaoy cup in this week still does not belong to him.

"I am here to announce that I will win the championship tonight."

Since 2015, Foggy has been improving as fast as rocket. This Ukrainian boy put all his energy on Warcraft and practices 10 hours a day, he has become a first-class player step by step.

Today is Foggy's 26th birthday, it is reasonable to say that this is the late stage for an e-sports professional player, but considering the particularity of the Warcraft III, and Foggy debut himself on this circle so late, Foggy's future is full of uncertainty. After WGL Winter in last year, Foggy said that he would become the best Night Elf in the future. Can he do it?

The data won't lie, Foggy's result make him like a super player!

In fact, as early as 2015, Foggy had the chance to play in the major tournament, however, he didn't make it, he didn't go to Cologne, Germany to participate in the WCA European regional finals, because of the problem of visa.

Luckily, this incident did not affect Foggy's mentality, he saved his energy until the first time of being in offline tournament, in this time, he made it and he shocked the world. In the group stage, he defeated Lyn and advanced to the Ro8, this made everyone recognized his unusual potential. Even though Lyn had just returned to Warcraft III, and he also hadn't recovered his shape to the best, but the ability to knock down a Super player was enough to let Foggy to highlight his strength.

As expected, after that, Foggy didn't stop his progress. In the GCS Fall 2016, he defeated TH000 to win the third place, and another Super player fell under his punch. By the time of the WGL Winter 2017, Foggy had already stood on the stage of the Grand Finals. After seven games against TH000, Foggy lost the series and the championship.

A year later, Foggy made a comeback. After winning the game versus Lawliet and Infi, he advanced to the Grand Finals again. In this time, his opponent was the Legend, Moon. Of course, Foggy seems relatively young compared to Moon's experiences, and he once again missed the chance to climb to the top.

WGL (and GCS) is currently the highest level Warcraft III tournament. Foggy played 6 season, and he won 2 runner-ups, 2 third places and reached to Ro8 for twice. The stability of the results are as good as other Super players. Compared to other Night Elf players, Foggy is slightly worse than Moon only.

Similarly, in some online major tournaments, Foggy's results are also very eye-catching, he got the runner-up in OTOMADS cup, Shen Kui Cup, and the fourth place in Thunder Fire Cup. This is very hard for him to get with the ping problem.

Unlike the Chinese players who making income with streaming, most of Foggy's incomes depend on the prizes of tournament, so he keeps practicing with tournaments, so his shape has been maintained very well. In the case of getting hungry when you can't get the results, Foggy is able to withstand the pressure and get good grades. It is really admirable.

Lost at the starting line, dropped into a nightmare by Infi's four races

Despite Foggy many impressive results, if he wants to be a true Super player, he still has a lot of resistance.

First of all, he is a Ukrainian, (There is no discrimination against nationality. We are talking about his network situation.) the delay and ping issue will make you like playing a different game, the delay is undoubtedly a big problem for the effect of practicing. Although he can come to China for training in advance for the offline tournaments every year, he still lacks of good environment to practice in such a short period of time. Additionally, there are many events only invite Chinese and Korean players, Foggy has lost a lot of opportunities to improve himself.

Second, the environment of  European Warcraft III is not as active as China and South Korea. The language problem prevents him from communicating with other similar level players. Numerous facts show that those who lock themselves and don't communicate with others will not be able to improve and complete the progress, you have to improve with constant communication. At this level, Foggy suffered another disadvantage.

In addition, the shorter time to contact Warcraft III is also a major disadvantage. Moon, Infi, TH000, Fly and other players are all veterans of the field for more than 10 years, and Foggy has played too few offline tournaments and that makes his offline experience is seriously insufficient.

Just one year before, Foggy was defeated by Infi, a player can play with four races. In the face of Infi's unique style, Foggy looked stunned, once he entered the unknown domain, he was often at a loss, copying Moon's strategies can solve a lot of problems, but certainly not all the problems.

Of course, we all know that Foggy has ambitious goal and unremitting efforts. But at the same time, only such inspiration couldn't solve all problems.

The world champion dream might be difficult for Foggy

Look at Foggy's results in major tournament, he always got into Top 8, in addition to very few games, Foggy can qualify from the group stage almost every time, but he is always a little worse than the final champion. The gap between dreams and reality is sometimes so cruel, in the world of Warcraft III, the gap is like the distance between Foggy and Moon, we describe the Moon as "great player", but we describe Foggy as "good player", there are several reasons for this difference, among these reasons, talent might be the key role.

E-sports are so cruel sometimes: your effort determines your lowest limit, but your talent determines the highest limit. What kind of level a player can achieve, the thing that comes with it is his talent. And this is exactly what Foggy is facing. When we are talking about diligence and hard work, there may not be many people who can surpass Foggy, and this also let him has stepped from a normal player to his standing nowadays. Advancing to the top 8 and top 4 in big tournament, or winning the minor cups and tournaments are not a problem for Foggy. However, he has reached this position and level, and if he wants to go one step further, there will be only one step named "S-level". You can see the names Infi, 120, Moon, TH000 and Lyn, what Foggy needs is only a "world champion."

Can he do it? It is still too early to draw conclusions, but everyone has seen something recently. After the release of patch 1.30.4, Foggy has been losing to Human many times, and he was helpless in the face of TH000 and Infi. In the face of Lyn, he has only very few wins even in patch 1.30.1. Moreover, he was defeated by Check in the mTw Legend Cup. Without the advantage from the patch, Foggy seems once again lost the strength for the world champion.

Foggy grew from normal people to a star. This story is inspirational and inspiring. But it also has a lot of people who don't mention the other side. In this side, in Warcraft III, no one seems to treat him as an S-class player or a future S-class player.

In the interview, Moon praised 120 and Life. He even said that he wanted to help Life grows step by step because he saw his youth in Life. But many experts, including Moon and Infi, they have never said that Foggy has talent. In many times, Foggy's style is relatively fixed, he is lacking flexibility.

Let use XiaoY Cup finals as an example, Foggy started with double Ancient of War and went for expansion, after the expansion was finished, he would go to attack for sure, and he did it every round. Such a routine, ignoring the timing of situation was like a high school student who directly used an example to write in his writing exam, when he faces a great player, the games will be very hard for Foggy.

When Foggy played WGL for the first time, Foggy said that his goal is to be a world champion. From the current situation, it looks really hard for him.

On 28th March, before the group stage of WGL March qualifier Pro Division, the Orc player Linguagua sent a message:

"The three Night Elves in Group C have been surrounded by me alone, please pray for them."

"Please ask someone to wake up Linguagua." An audiences replied the message.

There were almost no one was optimistic about him.

Take a look at Linguagua's opponents: Colorful, Moon, LawLiet, one of them is a good player of the new generation, and the other two have been famous for long time, and think about Orc vs Night Elf in this patch... Seems like Linguagua was just kidding and having fun.

However, just a few hours later, Linguagua defeated LawLiet with the Blade Master with Lighting Shield, and he also defeated Colorful with the same strategy. At last, Linguagua won and became the first place of the group, he became the biggest black horse of March Qualifier.

The joke became "super prediction", and Linguagua was praised by the other players as "a man did what he promised."

This is a story about him.

"The three Night Elves in Group C have been surrounded by me alone, please pray for them."
"Please ask someone to wake up Linguagua."

A young man in Warcraft III's circle

Warcraft III is a long life circle.

Which means, this game has been on sale more than ten years, and it’s still being updated and hosted. Moreover, the top players are about 30 years old, but they are still active in major events and tournaments, which is hard to see in other e-sports project.

Although he has been playing Warcraft III for almost ten years, Linguagua, a man was born in 1993, he is still one of the players of young generation.

Like many of us, Linguagua also got into Warcraft III because he is an active gamer, and Warcraft III is the start of his gamer life, this makes Linguagua has a special feeling for this game. Althought he left Warcraft III, he finally chose to return.

The young boy of that year was very simple, he chose to play Orc because he felt that Blade Master was very cool, so he began to play against the Insane Computer.

If there is no friend's influence, Linguagua might play against the Insane Computer only, but fortunately, he was born in the era when Warcraft III was famous in almost every Internet cafes, there are so many friends who love to play games.

His friends leaded him to join the first "team", and all members were his classmates.

"At the time, our class often competed against the next class. I was a pure mouse player, and the team leader of next class was a 'goat' with APM around 300, but he was defeated by me, a pure mouse player." This is Linguagua's first victory of Player vs Player, he is very proud for this result.

He was always watching Fly's VOD, learning Grubby's base running strategy, and play against the next class... The time passed day by day, and gradually, he had a higher goals. In order to get more chances for the game, Linguagua joined Go team when he was studying in high school. (The ID by the time: Aotuman).

"Do you remember the first experience of participating in the offline tournament?" the reporter asked.

"Probably in the third year of junior high school, I started playing with others on the battle platform, but the first time I participated in the offline tournament when I was a high school student." Linguagua recalled that "it should be playing WCG Nanjing qualifier! It is hard to advance to the Ro64. Then I was defeated by 7K easily, I lost in the first round..."

"It a deep memory!" he said.

"It’s the turn for the Orc to get back the game."

After that, Linguagua participated in many tournaments, and there were some well-known players such as Infi in the match, and he also made some achievements. Also, he always showed himself on Tieba(a forum of Baidu), so there were players who rank him as a great player of Tieba.

For some personal reasons, Linguagua stopped playing in tournament for a while, and his game time became intermittent as well. Fortunately, he finally returned to Warcraft III.

Linguagua continued to participate in the tournaments, and became active on Tieba again, meanwhile, Linguagua was discussed from time to time by others as well. Although he was a background board in the game, he and was being played by the top players, he was still being with a good attitude. He admitted that there is a big gap between him and the top players, but he will never give up, even if he was still being played by the top players, but he made a comeback in the games when the top players didn't pay enough attention.

He always interacts with others, and he has the ability to play against the top players, this made him got some fans and they also rank him as the King of Orc on Tieba.

However, what really attracted more players and audiences to pay attention to him was the stunning performance in March. As mentioned above, before the game, Linguagua released a "message", which made us wonder, because this was completely different from his previous attitude. Was Linguagua just making joke, or he was really confident for playing against Night Elves?

"At the time, I was serious. Although it was also a joke with friends, but I still wanted to repeat it. I was serious. You have to know that I have never done this before."

He also said "patch 1.30.1 had been playing for nearly half a year in China, I was getting bullied by Night Elf and I almost gave up Warcraft III. As a stubborn Orc player, I am not a "masochist", I hate that I was always bullied by Night Elves. When the platform updated to patch 1.30.4, I thought that it is the time to get back to the spot!"

A man did what he promised, Linguagua.

"If you say that my story is inspirational when I entered to the top 8 of the monthly qualifier, I think that is a contempt for me." Linguagua responded.

"What is your goal?" asked the reporter.

"The players in Pro division are very strong, champion might be too far, but it is an online tournament. For online tournament, my goal for myself has always been the top three. Of course, I also have a deep understanding of the gap between myself and other players, but this is not the case which could prevent me from setting this goal for myself."

Linguagua has his own ambitions, but he also understands that he has to walk the road step by step. His current goal is get into WGL summer and reach quarterfinals, the top 8."

Since there are only 6 slots for Chinese in WGL'2019 summer, and Linguagua has to get a place from Infi, 120, TH000, Life, Fly, WFZ, Xiaokk, Colorful and many other strong players, the difficulty is self-evident.

However, Linguagua said that the biggest opponent is himself. If he wants to win the quota, he must goes beyond his current strength.

After the interview, he immediately got into the game to train his own skills, he wants to make his "words become the "super prediction" once again.

After all, he is the man did what he promised, he is Linguagua.

On 1st January, 2017, before the start of the WGL Warcraft 3 finals, Guo Zixiang (Newbee.eer0, ID: 120) had a little secret.

Before the finals, 120 went to profess his love to his current girlfriend, and the girl replied:"Let's talk about this after the games."

With a score of 3-2, 120 caught a mistake of Lyn and won his first major championship. When he returned to his seat, he was anxious to know the answer. In retrospect, he was somewhat uninterested in that victory.

"I won the championship, doesn't it mean that she will promise?"

After the final, 120 rushed to find her, but the girl directly rejected him.

"If I reject him directly, it may affect his status, so I said that let's about it after the finals."

In the interview during the day, 120's girlfriend sat silently beside him. She also ordered a drink and said to 120: "I have half the contribution to this championship, right?"

120 nod.

I am playing in a tournament!

120 will get up at 07:15 every day. After washing, he will ride to the company, which is 8 o'clock exactly.

"Ready to work." 120 laughed.

He majored in computer at university and now he is mainly working as a programmer. During the work, he will do some very basic program work, and after work, 120 has another job to do.

He usually arrives at home at 18:30. After taking a shower, he will start streaming at 19:00 on time and stream until 24:00.

Every day, his life is carried out in such a standardized operation, in an orderly manner, and no link can be deviated.

The work during the day makes him feel tired, so he has to take a bath every time after work to cheer up himself. In order to avoid affecting the state of streaming, 120 never eats dinner.

Since childhood 120 is a very independent person: he is living independently, economic independence, and this led him to develop the habit of making daily plans for himself and strictly enforce it.

When 120 was in middle school, he began to like to play Warcraft III. After that, when he was in the university, he practiced a lot every day, and he often practicing all night long. In order not to affect the rest of the roommates, he can only mute the training.

"At that time, my classmates were playing League of Legends and I was playing." 120 said, "I don't want to play." And his classmates would say, "If you don't play, please let me use your computer." So 120 would answer them: "I am playing in a tournament!"

Painstaking practice made 120 having a good result, before that, he thought he had no talent. We must know that, after 120 started to play this game, 120 had been playing the game agaisnt "Computer" for two years, to make him familiar with the basic micro. Until he was in the university, he began to play on various platforms. If he lost one, he would like to add that person as friend, and he would use the same tactic to play with the same person for a whole day.

"The amount of practice I did at that time was definitely much more than the current young players, until finally there was a feeling of realization."

The diligent and persistent 120 became famous in 2015,  WCA. He actually defeated the WFZ, who was in good state at the time, and advanced to the offline tournament as the third place in the China Regional Qualifier. After the game, his strategy became famous as well, fast tech and Crypt Fiend in Undead Mirror.

"At the time, Undead Mirror was popular with DK leveling, but I paid more attention to the collection of items, so I used this tactic. I paid attention to the items and resources on the map, and I used heroes as the core to fight. When I defeated him (WFZ), I play like this in all Undead Mirror."

This was one of the few offline tournaments that 120 played, compared with his opponent, he was too young. From 2015 to 2017, although his was rising on world ranking, but his state was fluctuating, and he had never really proved himself.

"In those few years, the tournaments were pretty few, and there was almost no offline tournament," 120 said. "Because I was still in college, so I didn't think too much. I planned to plan for the future after graduation."

In fact, between 2015 and 2017, many Korean players retired or served in military service, and European, American players disappeared too. The ranking of Chinese ranking was almost equal to the world ranking. So, when 120 defeated WFZ, who is one of the top in Chinese ranking, 120 definitely had the strength to get the championship, he was just waiting for an opportunity.

Until 2017, after 120 won the WGL championship, people finally removed the label of "Warcraft Newplayer". In the middle of this, perhaps only he knows how many failures he had experienced in playing Warcraft III for nearly ten years and participating in the tournaments for five to six years.

 I am not a Newbie.

Compared with other "young" esports games, War3 players are generally older. Many players have been married and have children, but they are still active in professional competitions and have achieved good results. 120 believes that the characteristics of this game, it does not depend on your age.

"Warcraft III also has players born after 2000, but they have not made a name for themselves. Even players born in 1997 and 1998 have basically no great achievements. Old players can choose not to play, but it is difficult for new players to play without opponents. Come out, do you understand?" Eer0 is eager to express, with his hands on the strokes. "The old players are active and the new players are too few. The main reason is that there are too few people playing this game. And Warcraft III doesn't matter with age, it is not a game that depends on reaction only, this game requires more from your strategy."

120 is already 24 years old, he may have no advantage in many e-sports games that rely on reaction and speed. However, in Warcraft, it is a golden age, he is recognized as "the player with the best state maintaining" in China. Unfortunately, there are very few Warcraft players in China who having same age with him.

In the past ten years, the game had stopped updating once, and the lack of events, the difficulty of getting started with the game, has become the reason for blocking young people from contacting Warcraft III. During 2014 to 2017, there was a big gap in Warcraft, the new players were not appearing when the "middle-aged" players such as 120, Colourful, and Life are about to play.

In 2018, Warcraft once again got the update. After that, Blizzard announced that the Warcraft III: Reforged will be launched in 2019, which has brought a new turn to the entire Warcraft III industry.

"Maybe Blizzard's staff woke up..." 120 stared with his small eyes.

This update has excited many Warcraft III players, and many people even think: "The patches update is good, I can accept it regardless of whether it is relatively balanced.

In 2018, Warcraft's event has increased again, this making 120 again have a desire to fight. His stream followers are gradually increasing, and the prize money from the tournaments plus the income from streaming has already exceeded his salary during the daytime. For many e-sports new players, especially 120, who just graduated from college and faced pressure from their lives, they have more choices.

"When a new player has a fixed income and can ensure that there is no worry in life, the result will gradually increase. Maybe the old players are still winning games, but in the next six months, everyone may have a chance."

Shortly before accepting our interview, 120 just joined the Team Newbee, and when we asked about the new plan for 2019, 120 said he was preparing for the team league and he might resign the programmer's work.

120 was excited when  he was talking about the 2019 Warcraft's multiple contests and the offline team leagues that had been closed for many years. Unlike the players who have fought in many e-sports tournaments such as WCG and ESWC in the past, 120 has not caught up with that era since his debut. The games he participated in are more play with online.

He said that he is looking forward to live with other players, even the days of training together in the team. "I think Colorful is the same." 120 knows very well about his friends. "Because this is not just a game, it is the first time we can experience the life of an e-sports professional."

For the team league, 120 is very confident in the lineup of his team, Newbee (120, Lyn, Lawliet): "We have won the championship, how do other teams fight against us?!"

He laughed and was beaten by his girlfriend next to him.

My dream is too big, Do you still want me to say?

When 120 was streaming, he found that although Warcraft III has become less famous in recent years, this game still has a group of loyal fans. "Not only people who used to play, who don't play now, but also some other players. A lot of them started their e- sport career with Warcraft III. Although they have transformed Dota or StarCraft 2, they are all concerned about Warcraft."

After winning the 2017 WGL Championship, 120 received a blessing message from a friend who hasn't seen it for a long time, and he has been away from War3 for many years.

During these years, too many friends around 120 have stopped playing Warcraft III. At that time, those dream-seeking people who had been passionate and ambitions have now become process directors, civil servants, some of others have gone to stocks and earned a lot of money. There is only 120 continues his Warcraft career, of course, he will become a programmer during the day and continue his work.

Although it was hard, when he recalled the time of playing War3, 120 never regretted, he said, "Because it made me know a lot of friends, including my current girlfriend, I have a great harvest and it is worth."

In 2019, he wants to play more Warcraft III's games, win more games, be a pure professional player.

Every time we interview an e-sports player, we will finally ask: "What is your dream?"

"My dream is too big, Do you still want me to say?"

120 is a little embarrassed. He turned his head and looked at his girlfriend, and his girlfriend's face looks red.

He said that he wants to buy a house in Beijing, he can at least pay a down payment, he wants to live there with his girlfriend in the future.

Half an hour from the rehearsal, FoCuS ended his training in Cyber Cafe and rushed to the cafe for an interview. In the just-concluded NeXT Winter Warcraft III, FoCuS successfully escaped from the big killer, Moon with his dazzling performance, we need to know that in this patch, Moon is almost invincible. In the game, we saw FoCuS played with Shadow Hunter first, and Tinker second, then he went to push Moon's expansion with the Serpent Wards, although he failed in that fight, he still played very patiently, and successfully knocked down Moon main base and won the game.

The moment Moon typed out GG, the camera turned to FoCuS, his smile was like sunshine.

"He told me before the game that he had a confidence to played against Night Elf on TS." 120 was grinning next to him.

"You may not believe it. When I started playing Warcraft, I started with the Human." FoCuS was like a big boy. "But after the release of the Frozen Throne, I turned to the Orc, because I especially like to use the speed scroll to run the whole army, the feel is really good."

"My training goal is to win the championship in every game, whether it is winning 120 previously or winning Moon this time, maybe it is incredible in your eyes, but in my opinion, I was pretty fully prepared before the game, so after winning, there is a feeling of getting what you want."

In the minds of Warcraft players, FoCuS is a very hard-working player. He will try to play in the every big tournament and minor cup. He won 46 championships in Z Cup (a famous European weekly tournament, held 322 times), currently, many champions of some minor cups are also included in the FoCuS

"I can make a little money for my family. On the other hand, it is also good to maintain the state with the competition." FoCuS also pointed out that in recent years, the Warcraft III prizes are not enough to support his life. "Fortunately, I still have some savings. In addition, I am very grateful to my wife. She will also go out to work to make money to support our family." FoCuS is very optimistic.

In South Korea, the number of audiences who care about Warcraft III is not huge but is very demanding for players. After WGL summer in 2018, the poor performance of FoCuS made him attacked by many audiences on the Korean forum. He could not help but write a letter of apology with the incomprehensible feelings of others. "At that time, I would only stay at home, I don't know how to deal with this. I will feel bad when I look at the forum."

Soon after, I figured out that this was originally part of what professional players should bear. I will try to do some fitness and outdoor sports to divert attention. Recently, I am also learning piano, music makes people happy. These activities make me not care too much about those attacks, and pay more attention to my own training.

When I mentioned Soin, who was not performing well today, FoCuS had great confidence to this younger player: "he was too nervous, I believe he is a skillful player. This is his third time to be in offline, right? And he just graduated this year, before that, his studies were very hardy and he often faced exams. I think after this year, Soin should have more time to prepare and adjust his mindset, he will beyond me in the future."

When I asked him what he thought about the Reforged Edition, FoCuS thought about it and raised his hand to help the glasses. "For me, I still think and practice constantly. It is a good thing for the environment to be better."

"But for me, preparing for tomorrow's game is more meaningful." As always, he is humility and low-key.

"I will try my best."

He turned his head and looked out the window, the sky darkened, and the lights lit up. The light of this flower city made this city look like it was during the day.

We may look at the star players who are particularly good like Moon and Lyn, however, we can't ignore the senior players like FoCuS, they strive to bring the brightest game to the audience, and they are reluctant to disappoint fans and audience.

"It doesn't matter if I am not famous. Just remember, I used to play Warcraft III, and I really love this game."

The last sentence of FoCuS makes my eyes moist.

---------------------------------
[Author's note] NeXT was held at the Poly World Trade Expo Center in Guangzhou in these two days. The "living fossil" of games, Warcraft III, it is still full of audiences, and the cheers come constantly in the hall, like it was showing us that he was ready for his second peak. For the first time, we were using the conquest system, the whole process was very exciting, and the audiences were so interested on this tournament too. Let's take a look at the behind-the-scenes scenes that touched us.
---------------------------------

The weather in Guangzhou is surprisingly good, like a gentle sing of the wind, soft and clear. This is the first time that Yan Xiaoyu (a pseudonym) came to Guangzhou. For this reason, she took 2 days off and spent half a month's salary on this trip. Just now, she was in the Poly World Expo Exhibition Hall, and watching NeXT Winter Warcraft III, when most people were holding "Moon" and "Fly", she held "Lucifer" high and her eyes were firm and persistent. And the player she supports, Lucifer, has gone through a full 18-year career.

Surprisingly, this time Lucifer's performance is definitely worthy of the long-distance running of this fan: First, when he was in the face of the pressure given by Fly100%, he chose to play with mass Ghouls and went to Fly's base in a really good timing, after that, he got the double hero-kill with a beautiful Nova & Death Coil Combo, forced Fly typed out GG in the game. In the Winner Bracket Final, Lucifer stood out and fought for his team as the first player, he found the chance that when Colorful's army hadn't been forming, Lucifer got the hero-kill with his double level 5 hero, got the first point for his team, and did good job for the result afterwards, 3-0.

18 years is enough to make a person change a lot. The prestige boy in the past has also become an fatty uncle. But from the moment his left hand flew on the keyboard, and his eyes fixed on the screen, he were like a teenager with the young concentration and enthusiasm.

From that moment on, I know that War3 is my lifelong goal.

Today's Warcraft III, Lucifer is definitely not at the top level, and Moon, who debuted with him, and Lyn, who is later than him, both of them still maintain a super competitive level. Especially as UD, the light of 120 in recent years has almost concealed other fellow players. He sometimes can enter into top 8 in online tournaments, and he occasionally can get into offline, this is the current impression to the audiences.

2006 was the pinnacle of Lucifer, he won the ESWC championship that year.

When Lucifer was sitting across from me, he squinted and said: "That was the happiest moment of my life. I remember that I won Zeus with 2:0. But before that, I didn't have any big championship. I always felt in the game. I warned myself to calm down until the moment that the spotlights and flowers surrounded me, and I felt that everything was worthwhile. At that time, I began to be determined and I would use Warcraft III as my lifelong goal."

At that time, he was closely connected with the names of Susiria, Grubby and Moon, which were engraved in the history of Warcraft III, and he was the superstar of the legendary team MYM.

When he tried to come back to Warcraft III, the road is full of resistances and long.

It’s not easy to stick to a game that is not popular nowadays, and Lucifer is harder than other players.

In 2015, Lucifer wrote a long blog to talk about his feelings. In the middle, he said "Life is always full of disappointment, and the trajectory of life will not develop as we expected. We always stand in the same place, waiting for opportunities, waiting for fate, but they will always be again and again, give us frustration and pain.

Lucifer suffered from a serious psychological mania when he was in military service. Sometimes his heart was so violent and this made him had to leave the TYLOO team and went back to his hometown to heal. And for his treatment of drugs, he also made his body more and more fat, and the King of UD, which is famous with his out-looking, has completely changed. In time and again self-doubt and self-salvation, Lucifer's sentiment has a new sublimation: "In those years, I realized a truth. The outcome of the game may not be as important to me as before; the most important thing is to do your best and stick to it without giving up. "

If you want me to add a deadline, then I choose to fight until the last day.

The four Korean Kings of Undead once shined the entire Warcraft III: Susiria, gostop, Lucifer, sweet. However, the other three have now turned and left. In this regard, Lucifer said with a smile: "Yes, I also miss the days of fighting with them. Sweet went to other game as a coach, and the other two have not played games. Now Korea has only one skillful Undead. As a matter of fact, I don't have anyone to discuss tactics. I only rely on myself and watch replays. But before the big tournaments, Korean players of other races will accompany me to carry out targeted exercises. I am very grateful to them here."

In the just-concluded 2018 WGL Winter, Lucifer made his debut in the offline game after two years. However, he didn't play well, and the audiences was concerned that he would sweat when he finished a Bo3 games.
"I cried at the time, he is too difficult." Yan Xiaoyu remembered that moment.

"In WGL, because I haven't been in offline for a long time, I want to express my desires very much, so I have to put more pressure on myself. In NeXT, I will perform better." Lucifer smiled heartily.

"Like Moon and me, it’s great to be able to maintain such a competitive state at an old age. I think I have been very successful." He commented on himself.

When he heard me said that some other people's speculations and rumors, Lucifer laughed again: "I am not a rich second generation, I am not making a lot of money in stocks, those are all things that are nothing, I was growing in an ordinary family. But for me, prizes and stream are enough to support my life. I don't have any material needs, I have enough to eat enough, and I don't need to support my family like other married players."

"You asked me about my plans for the future? I think... I will keep going." Lucifer's eyes began to shine again. "Yes, I see the teammates around me leave, I was lonely and doubtful about life, but I never thought about leaving Warcraft III. Now that the Reforged Edition is out, the big environment may be greatly improved. But who knows? Anyway, as long as Warcraft 3 is still there, I will play this game and stream it to my audience."

"That is, you will fight to the last moment of Warcraft III, right?" I asked softly.

"Yes!" Lucifer nodded.

At that moment, he was like an angel.
