Since the later years of WCG, Chinese have always been better than Koreans in Warcraft III, and this has been one of the few games where Chinese were able to better the Koreans. Once there wasn't even a single Korean in the GCS top 8.[1]

Before Patch 1.30, Chinese were still playing well, TH000 and 120 got the titles in the only two offline tournaments that were played during the year, and they were leading in the ranking of prizes, too.
Since Patch 1.30 was released, the unbeatable Moon has returned. With his incredible understanding of the game, Moon has resurrected his Golden Era again. He was dominating the games in Shenkui Cup and WGL Winter 2018.
It seems like there is no limit to Moon's variety of strategies. When he played against Lyn and Fly, he was playing in a completely different manner as compared to his games with Foggy. He used different strategies in the series with Foggy too, making his opponent very confused. Moon researched Hardened Skin, but he didn't train any Mountain Giants. Did he forget? Or was he just showing off?
What is more frightening, Moon is executing his strategies with perfection. The other Night Elves could learn from him, except probably for the Chinese Night Elves.[2]
Right now, neither Infi, TH000, 120, nor Fly have any solution to this guy's play. Although we are soon going to have Patch 1.30.2 the situation will likely not change much.

We (Chinese) have The "6S" (Moon, Lyn, 120, Fly, TH000, Infi) in Warcraft III. However, who are the players coming after The 6S who follow them closely?

However, when we watched some recent games, we noticed the Tier 2 Korean Players have improved really quickly. FoCuS, Lawliet, So.in, Chaemiko, Sok, Lucifer, these Korean players are a lot stronger than the Tier 2 Chinese players like Colorful, WFZ, Zhouxixi, Xiaokk, Sini. According to recent statistics, the Tier 2 Korean Players beat the "6S" a few times, but the Chinese players lost almost all of their games.
In the past, we had ZDR, Romantic, Life, and Yumiko. However, these kind of players have left us for different reasons (luckily, Life just returned). At the same time the young Chinese players haven't improved enough, so there is a big gap between the 6S and the Tier 2 Chinese players.
In a recent interview Moon and Lyn said that streaming could divert the attention of a player. They opined that streaming requires the inclusion of an entertaining effect. However, players need to be able to concentrate on training, so these two tasks clash with each other.
Currently, the Chinese players need to stream in order to earn sufficient income, because the tournament prizes are too low to support their lifestyle.
However, in 2019 things will look a lot differently, because the 5 Million Yuan (~US$720,000) Warcraft III prize pools will attract all players. By the time the tournaments start next year, the Chinese players should turn their attention to training. Otherwise, if the status quo remains, we believe the Korean players will win most of that prize money.
Korean player are hard-working, they practice and train seriously, and they communicate with each other frequently. That is why Korean players have been standing on top of e-sports. Additionally, with the patch advantage, the success of Korean players has not been a coincidence.
